Steven Gard is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator and a Certified Federal Court Mediator in the Middle District of Florida. He is licensed to practice law in Florida and Georgia and was Board-certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in the field of Business Litigation in 2010. Mr. Gard is a member of the board of directors for the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators. He is also a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution sections of the Florida Bar and the Jacksonville Bar Association.
Mr. Gard was a partner in a litigation firm that he co-founded in 1987. Before that he served as an attorney in the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Mr. Gard practiced the majority of his more than 40-year legal career in the areas of securities litigation and arbitration and defense of investigations and administrative proceedings conducted by the SEC, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and state securities commissions.
He has also served as an arbitrator and mediator for FINRA, the New York Stock Exchange, and the American Arbitration Association. His legal experience includes cases involving complex commercial litigation, insurance disputes, and business dissolutions.
Mr. Gard received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
